Customer Rating: Summary: Expensive but probably worth it. Just one drawback... Comment: The suction on this machine is excellent, and it is much lighter than older Dysons. It is fantastic on dog hair and the best I have had for hard floors. The dust collection bin is smaller than on most bagless uprights but I haven't found that I need to empty it much more often.
The only drawback is the ball system. It does go round corners well, but because it is so flexible the weight of the cleaner is on your wrist, rather than on your whole arm as with normal machines. If you are not particularly strong, or have wrist problems it would be difficult/painful to use for any length of time. I also found it more awkward to use in a small space than a non-ball machine.

Customer Rating: Summary: Dyson DC25 Animal Comment: After our DC04 gave up after more than 8 years of lots of abuse we fancied one of the new Dyson ball cleaners. Very easy to put together and I haven't noticed a problem with the lenght of the cable even though we live in a four beedroom house. I do despire with the extension hose as it takes some getting used to un-clipping it from the main body. That said it is a fantasic vacuum cleaner which picks up twice as much as the old Dyson. I put it together myself as it was so easy. I had avoided Dysons before as they are so expensive even though I had heard good reports about them. I really wish I had bought one earlier now! This machine is just superb. Not as noisy as my month old Vax which I really hated as it blows air at my face. Really easy to manouver. I love it! On the older models, they were difficult to steer, heavy and also restrictive when doing under the rims of cupboards, etc. With the DC25, it is possible to go easily round bends, pick up those stray bits beneath the cupboard doors and move easily from room to room. Comment: We've has a dyson for at least 5 years but it recently decided it had had enough and refused to work. With a Springer Spaniel in the house vacuuming is something that we do a lot of (at least once a day) and it can be difficult to pick up the hair from the carpet with some vacuums.
The DC25 animal is fantastic. It picks the majority of the hairs up from the carpet on the first go and has drastically reduced the length of time that it takes us to vacuum the downstairs of the house. the ball makes it so easy to steer too and it's lighter and smaller than our previous Dyson, although it is just as sturdy. I would recommend this for anyone with a particularly messy pet.
