Customer Rating: Summary: Vax V-124 Dual V Upright Carpet Washer Comment: We hunted around for a new carpet cleaner, then we found these reviews, all reported very positively, so we went ahead & ordered one, it came a couple of days later (Christmas eve)
Thought we'd have a little 'trial-run', ended up using it for a couple of hours!! we thought our carpets were relatively clean, but the tubfuls of mucky water proved otherwise, fortunately, we went downtown & bought a couple of large bottles of Vax cleaner beforehand,good job too, as the small bottle supplied was soon used.
Ok, so its noisy,but that's no big deal, it looked a bit complex at first, but we soon fathomed it out & its easy after a few mins use.
After an hour or so, I noticed the main 5-brush assembly was not rotating, pulled it off to find the brush 'gears' clogged with wet carpet fibres which in turn had jammed & prevented the brushes from rotating, causing the square-plastic drive shaft to snap off!!
Got around the problem by filing an old bolt to fit ( I'm an engineer) so we could carry on using over the Christmas break!!
Sent an e-mail to Vax not expecting a reply until well into the new-year, but imagine my surprise to get a call back the day after Boxing day!! No problems the very helpful young lady said, 'we'll send you a new brush assembly' WOW!! Its just arrived today, ten out of ten VAX, top class service.

Just bought this cleaner at a bargain price from Amazon.
Having a 4 month old puppy, my carpets were suffering badly! This is a brilliant machine. I have had a Bissell and an older Vax model in the past. Nothing compares to this. It is very easy to use, fill and empty. Has my recommendation 100%. Customer Rating: Summary: The ideal carpet cleaner for the home! Comment: Firstly, this item was a staggering half price from Amazon and was delivered very very quickly (is a very big box though!). The item was very easy to assemble. As mentioned in another review the whole thing is made of plastic but don't worry, it is definitely up to the job! The sample size of ultra cleaning solution is just about enough to do a 12 x 12 room so make sure you have more in stock (a high st catalogue store was competitive). When I did my lounge carpet I was appalled at the amount of grime that came out of it, but having 3 old english sheepdogs this shouldn't have been a surprise! Don't overwet the carpet with the trigger and keep your eye on all the tanks, suction is lost even if the clean water dispenser is low. Keep going over the same area until no more water can be seen going into the recovery tank and the carpet will be almost dry to the touch - brilliant! I re-did the same carpet the next day as it was so dirty and it is now like new. Within a couple of days I had done the lounge, landing, stairs and a bedroom and I am delighted with the results. The stairs were very easy but I would recommend using the rotating head. Even the edges of the carpets have come up well and the bounce is back in at every step.
I really can't think of a downside and would recommend this to anyone thinking of buying a carpet cleaner or even hiring one as this makes no sense. Ordered on Thursday evening and it arrived 9am Saturday - super service Amazon! Very easy to use and very little setting up required. Carpets dry in no time but make sure you have extra cleaning fluid-used 2 bottles for lounge and stairs although don't think will need so much next time. All cream carpets, down for 3 years, now looking like new again.Delighted with my purchase, would recommend, and the 6 year guarantee is a bonus. Customer Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!
