Customer Rating: Summary: Do not buy. Comment: Although I knew from previous reviews that the amount of single player gameplay was limited, I bought this game to play online. I finished the campaign mode in one evening and was looking forward to joining friends online that had bought the game recently for the same reason. However, we could not connect. I contacted the EA support line and they told me that the servers are down - that was a week ago. I would say that £30 is fairly expensive for one evening of gameplay and we're going to trade this back-in as there is no date from EA for the servers being available. Customer Rating: Summary: SHORT BUT FREAKIN SWEET Comment: I bought AO2 a while ago and was well impressed. Im still having fun thanks to the online gaming, despite the glitches. You follow tyson rios and elliot salem, a pair of armored, double hard mercanaries with fully custom weapons. The graphics are stunning as is the gameplay. You can sneak around enimies while the other player distracts them and permorm melee attacks - normally a skull fracturing headbutt among a few others. Also theres the weapons ranging from pistols and SMGs to grenade launchers and miniguns, all customiseable and pimped out. The story mode although short is great 2 player and can be played through a few times before it gets boring. The online game if youre patient is fantasic, but massively let down by crappy EA server, 'cross region play not supported' comes up when i try to play my mate who lives less than a mile away, which is just stupid. Its not all bad because 'quick match' is still pretty extreme and can be played 2 player split-screen online. Overall Id recommend this to anyone PS3 or 360. There better be a sequel out sometime soon. Customer Rating: Summary: Short and Sweet. Comment: If you like 3rd person shooter this game is a real good buy. The graphics are good, the campaign is great and even better if there is two of you playing however, the one downisde to the campaign is that it is just not long enough in my opinion. it just needed more locations and levels to fight your way through. But apart from that minor down side its a great game. The fact that you can pimp your weapons help each other over obstacles and interact with your team mate e.g. hit him for being useless is great fun. Overall I give it 7.5/10. A Good Buy! Customer Rating: Summary: Army of Two - More Like Team America Comment: Army of Two is about 2 mercernaries, Rios and Salem, who are dropped into real world hotspots (such as Iraq and Afghanistan) to resolve conflicts. There is a plot, but nothing worthy of mention, in fact the whole thing reeks of chest beating American patriotism. May work for some, but it completely turned me off.
Yet the controversial subject matter always made this an enticing prospect. The focus is very much on co-op play here, which works well and is entertaining enough.
However, single player isnt so hot. The game just doesent flow, with the majority of levels being a collection of awkward and under-developed set pieces. The 'back to back' mode would have worked much better if it could be activated randomly, the parachuting section makes terrible use of sixaxis (which mercifully can be turned off).
In addition, the graphics are underwhelming, only the menu screens have any of the typical EA presentation. Despite being able to 'pimp'your weapons, the shooting itself isnt much fun.
The aggro meter is a great innovation though, and one of the only mechanics in Army of Two that actually works.
Sadly it isnt until the later levels (like Miami International Airport) that Army of Two shows its true potential. And by then its almost much over. The ending also sets Army of Two up as a franchise, so hopefully the sequel will develop these good ideas more intelligently. I havent tried it on the Xbox 360 but i think it will still be really good on it
