Customer Rating: Summary: a gem of a series Comment: I was put off this series by the ITV tag line "scary just got sexy" (yuk!!! - whoever thought up that nauseating line should have been sacked). Then one night I was flicking through the channels and came across this (it was halfway through the "Bloody Mary" episode. Can you say "Candyman" three times in front of the bathroom mirror in the dark - I was 11 when I saw that film and this version of the avenging mirror ghost caught my attention. And, no, I still won't say "Candyman" three times, whether I'm in front of the mirror or not).
I looked at schedule to see what the programme I had just watched was and was shocked to discover that this enthralling drama was "Supernatural" - the programme with the off-putting tag line. I watched it again on the repeat on the Thursday night, this time from the beginning and I was hooked.
It's a real shame that the father, John Winchester, doesn't appear more in this series, but I live in hopes for series 2.
In the words of a friend of mine, "Winchesters rock!"
Customer Rating: Summary: the best show ever Comment: i started to watch the show cos i think both guys are hot. but i fell in love with the pain the goes where ever the boys go. season one just levaes you sitting on the egde of your seat or hiding behide it. i love when the boys see there dad as it brings up some of the best eps. i can't wait for season 2 Customer Rating: Summary: Great show. Poor DVD. Comment: Supernatural is a fantastic show. Good looking actors playing great characters in fun, scary stories week in, week out. A bit like X-Files in it's early days (when it was actually good) but with a more hip sensibility. The creator described the characters along the lines of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo on Route 66 (a good analogy for the character dynamic between the two) in the episode commentary and featurette that accompanied this series. Of course, most of you probably wont get to see those, or the deleted scenes and gag reel, because they were on the US DVD, containing the whole series in one set. This release, and the earlier released part 1, has none of these, which is why they should both be avoided like the plague. Maybe then the studios will take the hint and stop fobbing off us Brits with sub-standard releases. If ever there was an advert for multi-region players this DVD is it. Customer Rating: Summary: Great! But, Where are the special features?... Comment: I love Supernatural! It's a wonderful show. In this half of the series the acting is still perfect and the stories enjoyable. the end episode is amazing and will leave you gasping to know what happens next! but, you'll have to wait!
The main thing i'm annoyed about is the special features. America gets the whole series in one boxset AND special features! usually I wouldn't really care, but they have a gag reel. which is the best special feature if you ask me! The UK gets it in two parts. outside they look great! really lovely outer packaging, but inside, the dvds all have them same cover. which becomes a bit confusing. LAZY WARNER BROS. They do it with all their boxsets!
I would very much recomend buying this boxset!!! I just hope Warner Bros. don't release a complete collection after this! that'll just be annoying!
Enjoy! Customer Rating: Summary: A Continuing Lover of the Supernatural! Comment: The first half of the season of Supernatural worked to etablish the history of Sam and Dean, two brothers who as children became aware of the supernatural after their mother was murdered by an evil being. That day their father's mission became to destroy the thing responsible which lead Dean into a similar path but Sam only later when his girlfriend is murdererd almost identical to his mother.
In the second half of the season of Supernatural it continues with Sam and Dean travelling cross-country, killing evil mythical and folklore creatures but also coming closer and closer to finding their father and the demon responsible for the death of their mother and of Sam's girlfriend Jess. Through their journey the brother's bond becomes incredibly stronger and they begin to learn that Sam's psychic dreams aren't the only supernatural thing he's capable of.
New important characters emerge such as Meg a beautiful but mysterious girl that intrigues Sam. We begin to see the dynamics of the family's relationship more clearly with the presence of their father. We also have questions that were set up in the first half answered such as "Why did the demon choose to kill their mother?" If you thought the first half of Supernatural was sexy, believe me scary gets sexier.
