Customer Rating: Summary: "It's good - if you like Ackles" Comment: My father once told me that if you're a real fan of an actor, you take the good with the bad. That's exactly what Devour is - taking the bad.
As a lot of people admit, I only bought this as I'm a fan of Jensen Ackles and if you really just want to watch him, I'd suggest just putting Supernatural or Dark Angel in - those were better.
On the whole the film contained hope in the cast with Jensen Ackles and Shannyn Sossamon; you just wished it was a better script perhaps? Definitely did not warrant a 18 certificate, so if gore and horror is your thing, don't buy this {albeit i looked away at one point...but cutting off tongues is NOT my thing}.
However, if you like a movie that you can have in the background or to fill in a good hour, and you're a fan of the actors I would recommend it. I personally did like the movie, even if it did have a plot that was as easy as following a trail of breadcrumbs amongst breadcrumbs. There were some moments that were good - but I myself thought the ending was sudden stop. It left me wondering - is that it? Customer Rating: Summary: God Bless him... Comment: No one gets this film for any other reason apparently than it features 'The Ackles'. So let's go from there!
If you're the type of girl that can watch him read the phone book and still knock one out then you're onto a winner. If you are one of those people that like horror movies then avoid this like the plague.
Jensen is a TV actor and he's good at what he does. Don't mess with perfection babe.
I was interested cos his Dad's in it and in all fairness Jensen does his best with a diabolical script and Shannyn Sossamon basically sits there in a wig staring (I know what she's thinking is: "Get my agent on the phone!".)
Jensen is pretty. That's a statement.
Is he pretty enough to sit through this?
I thought so. Customer Rating: Summary: supernatural rocks Devour doesn't Comment: I give this film 3 stars because of the star in it not for the film itself I bought this dvd because I love supernatural a total addict in fact and jensen ackles stars in devour despite the bad reviews I had to see for myself but I am disappointed to say I have to agree with the other reviews if all you want to do is drool over the lovely jensen then this film has that in spades however apart from that this film is predictable in everyway I don't understand why it is rated 18 as its not the least bit scary gory or anything else I have seen films that are rated 15 that have been far scarier than this so apart from jensen I can find nothing else worth watching in this film. Jensen ackles is incredibly talented and his talent is wasted on this film. Customer Rating: Summary: More confusing than scary Comment: I'm not normally one for horror films but being a Jensen Ackles fan just couldn't resist checking this out.
However, even Jensen's lovely talented self cannot save this movie from the fact that the story line is practically non existent, the plot (what little there is) doesn't develop smoothly and the ending is completely confounding!
The characters have the opportunity to evoke real empathy but fail to do so making you wonder why these three friends are so close if they don't actually care when its obvious how disturbed each really is.
Throw in some very bad gore effects (the devil in labour is actually very amusing) and the obligatory unneccessary sex scenes (again very poorly done) and what you're left with is an appallingly poor attempt at a deep psychological horror movie which results in a comical mess. Customer Rating: Summary: Avoid at all costs! Comment: A truly awful film that even the lovely Shannyn Sossamon cannot save. Comes across like a poor tv movie. Don't waste your time watching this rubbish!
