J K Rowling's sequel to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone carries on where the original left off. Harry is returning to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after the summer holidays and, right from the start, things are not straightforward.
Unable to board the Hogwarts express, Harry and his friends break all the rules and make their way to the school in a magical flying car. From this point on, incredible events happen to Harry and his friends--Harry hears evil voices and someone, or something is attacking the pupils. Can Harry get to the bottom of the mystery before it's too late?
As with its predecessor Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a highly readable and imaginative adventure story with real, fallible, characters, plenty of humour and, of course, loads of magic and spells. There is no need to have read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to enjoy this book. However, if you have read it, this is the book you have been waiting for... Customer Rating: Summary: An outstanding work of fiction Comment: Rowling has proved herself yet again to be a master of fantasy fiction in the second installment of the Hary Potter series. The characterisations initially developed in the 'Philosopher's Stone' are considered in depth by the author, allowing presumptions to be overturned, and the impossible to be considered. From the start of this work, adventure and excitement become codewords, allowing readers of any age to engage with the well written literature. Much recommended. On his twelfth birthday, Dobby, a house-elf, visits Harry to warn him that he will be in earthly danger if he returns to Hogwarts. Harry ignores Dobby's terrible caution but is determined to return. Harry unintentionally gets sent to Knockturn Alley in a store that Draco Malfoy (Harry's foe) and his father, Lucius, are stopping by.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione try to find out who the Heir of Slytherin is. With the help of Ron and Moaning Myrtle, Harry discovers the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. Harry makes it to the Chamber where he finds an unaware Ginny. Harry learns that Ginny, under the control of Lord Voldemort, opened the Chamber. Lucius Malfoy, (who was very angry over Harry having deceived him into releasing his slave), attempted to attack Harry... Find out what happens in this great book which continues the adventures of the first! Customer Rating: Summary: This book is superb! Comment: I like Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets because it's mysterious, magical, surprising and scary .There's a surprise round every corner. Customer Rating: Summary: Uneventful Yet Undemanding Comment: It is evidence enough that there are a variety of interesting qualities and overbearing faults within the book, but overall Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets is at best an average read that just prolongs a series that apparently becomes more evolved and 'dark'. The lack of detail used to create events and keep readers attention isn't used to great effect at times and the silly description though engulfs the Hogwarts world at times into a place of fun, to me just turns it into a place of mockery. Themes are used well to teach us more about social acceptance in our own culture but the lack of atmosphere fails to turn the book into something more thought provoking. It is worth the money!
My favourite part in the book is when Harry and Ron are hoping Snape's been sacked but really he's right behind them!
Gildiroy Lochart is such a puff as well! He's all me me me! He says he's battled with banshees and fought werewolves. But is that true? And what secrets does the Chamber of Secrets hold? It's deffinately a bad one and when Harry's classmates start getting attacked it looks like Hogwarts could be closed...............
